From some light researching into the origin of the colour, I found these interesting facts:
- it describes both a bright shade and a dark shade of azure blue
- it is said to have been invented by millers in Rode, Somerset
- it is a traditional colour of writing ink
- it was used through multiple Windows operating systems as the background colour for the 'Blue Screen of Death' - which is what appears when there is a system failure
- 'queen blue' is a name for a lighter shade of royal blue
